S2000 - Roof Replacement - DIY?
Discussion
Hey guys,
A friend of mine has an S2000 and needs to replace the roof. He's been quoted $2,850AUD (circa 1,400 GBP) here in Perth, WA where we live.
The roof on it's own is a about 600 pounds.
Question is, would you attempt to DIY it or not? Looked at a couple of videos online and it does seem relatively complex but not totally out of scope.
Any experience, recommendations or potential gotcha's if doing it yourself?

First of all ouch, I think dealerships do a fitted roof for ~£1,000, but theres a few well known third party companies [i.e. they fabricate their own roof completely out of non-Honda supplied material] that charge as low as £300 fitted...
If he's not bothered about it being Honda-supplied, maybe have a look in your neighbourhood for a similar third party upholstery company?
S2Ki is the place to go for DYI info though, bound to be plenty on there who have done similar. Only thing I know for sure is that you loop extra material around certain sections that are known to rip/wear easily [the bars above your head, and the sections at the base of the side windows] to more future-proof your roof.

Hey Bibbs!
Must have a catchup soon, been a while!
My mate unfortunately had his car broken in to somewhere in the Northern Suburbs recently whilst football coaching.
Fortunately they slashed the roof to get in so he's getting a new one with a glass window under his insurance, at the expense of a stolen iPhone and sunglasses!
