Any DC5 owners here?
Discussion
After looking around for about 6months, having asked god knows how many forums ive cone to the conclusion the dc5 is the best all round car i can get for my needs and budget.
Just wanted to see if there are any owners on here or where you could point me in the direction of any? Just have a few questions about importing/ownership/maintenance etc
Firstly
Im looking at getting a car imported from japan to allow me to start with the car completely stock. Has anyone any reviews of any uk importers at all? And what extra costs would be incurred when registering it here?
Insurance for me at 23 isnt too bad, with it hovering around 1000 for intergra type r i have looked at for sale on here, which is exciting for the fact currently its 700 for my 1.4 clio... Are there any specialist insurers to look for?
I will be using the car every day and will have some money set aside for jobs that need to be done to the car when it arrives. Are there any mods that anyone would reccomend to make it more useable as a daily? Or jobs that you would say need doing to change the car for the uk roads?
Let me know if any of you are out there!

HI, I imported a DC2 a couple of years ago and would really recommend Miguel @ Newera Imports. You pay one fee which includes car, taxes, delivery and road setup in UK. The only thing I had to do was get the car undercoated.
My DC2 was an immaculate, low mileage example that's been reliable and used daily up until 6 months ago, and that's only because I didn't want the mileage to go up too much!
I think you pay a little more compared to other companies but friends who have had imported cars from other people have normally had to replace major components. Miguel certainly knows his stuff when it comes to cars.
Hope this helps and other people come forward with their experiences.

Torque GT seem to get a good rep, but never looked into any costs or anything as insurance would still be to much for me!
Hope you find a decent one, and don't forget putting up some pictures!

Torque GT are ace. Recommend them highly. I spend a lot of time on their website just drooling.
Anyway, insurance wise, £1000 seems high but I guess that is down to personal circumstance.
Common problems include a notchy second gear when cold, rust, faded headlights (easy fix), worn seat bolsters.
You'll avoid most of the common problems by being the first UK owner, I would recommend that if its an option.
