Do type-rs lose power with age / use? How much
Discussion
Hi,
after much thinking I have decided to replace my current sprint / hillclimb car with an ep3 type r (or possibly Integra). I will run in the standard class so no tuning.
There are few with less than 60k miles and most are much more.
Do they lose power as they wear?
Who would you go to for a rebuild to standard spec? How much is it likely to cost?
Thanks

Hi there,
Ive had a type r for over a year now. its done 126k and if anything it feels faster than the lower mileage cars. a few of my friends have them and they all say the high milers are actually better past 100k due to the fact the engine loosens up around then.
Hope this helps!
Simon.

I think providing it's been well serviced and looked after it should be fine. I had my DC5 Integra on a rolling road at an owners club day when it had about 50k miles on it. Most stock ones were pulling around 214-216 which is about right and mine managed to pull 220. I guess it's a strong engine, but i had another run at the same rolling road on 80k miles with just a couple of bolt on's ( Intake and Cat back Exhaust and it's running 230 now. )
