Hi Guys,

Looks like I have a weeping rear shock so have started looking to replace both rears.

Prices new from Honda are huge, but for the same cost of just the rear I could get a full set of Koni Yellows & springs, or for much less Koni Orange and springs.

I'm not looking to go coil overs and I'm not bothered and lowering the car, but does anyone have any advice or experience of the Koni shocks or what they have done when the shocks needed replacing?

Cheers

Noticed one of my rears was going soft recently, ended up buying a second hand one off eBay. Certainly fixed the problem but would be nice to refresh the lot. Like you say OEM stuff is crazy expensive!

Be interested to see if anyone has some suggestions.

Might be worth dropping this guy a message and get a pair of second hand OEM units

I know how you feel, I've been looking at new OEM costs and quite frankly they're shocking! (pun intended!).

Like you, I've decided that Koni Yellow and matching springs are the way to go.

I know you've said you're not particularly interested in coilovers but.. I've got a set of Gas coilovers on my S at the moment which will be coming off shortly. Yours for £250 if you're interested?

(worth a try! smile)

Haha, good try, but I'm not looking at coil overs.

The reason I was looking to change was because of an MOT advisory and a susequent check during a service at a main dealer 8 months later confirminga misting.

Well, over the weekend I had my car up on some ramps and had a good look around the underside with three mechanics who know there stuff. The result - no sign of a leak, a weep or any misting, it's operating correctly and all 4 corners are healthy.

Looks like no replacements needed yet, but I'd still like to hear how people feel about the Koni yellows as I fancy getting something done when it gets a bit warmer!

FD2 guys rate them on the rear, mated to OE springs.

S2000 owners always used to rate Nitrons VERY highly (better than OE) - more £££, but better build and performance. Not been on s2ki for a while though...

Ask over on s2ki.com in the uk section. One of mine was buggered, so bought a pair of rears from a member off a newer car as he had changed to coilovers. Got TGM to fit them for me. Job done.
