Was hoping someone could give me some pointers on this, been having the problem with water collecting in the roof seal above the driver / passenger side window then escaping when you drive off. Luckily its much more of a problem on the passenger side! With the heavy rain over the weekend its getting pretty bad now!

As far as i can see theres no obvious way for so much water to get in there, my first thought is the water seeping in along the stitching at the seam above the window? Ive ordered some waterproofing spray to test this but does anyone have any other ideas?

So far ive greased up the seals and put some rubber tube round the roof catches to tighten things up, plus im carrying a bunch of kitchen roll on hand for mopping up!

When you close the roof and fasten the two clips press the roof switch again(as if you are trying to open it) and you will see the roof drop about half an inch and it will "seat" better(lower). Once the windows are up it should have a better seal, this should also help with wind noise around the roof if you are getting any.

It can be a nightmare to diagnose and there is not one single cause of these leaks.

Check www.s2ki.co.uk, there's a whole thread (many of them actually) with all sorts of possible solutions.

Ive had a look on a few threads and like you said doesnt seem to be a definitive answer, which is a shame! Guess ill keep at it and see what i can find.

There's no definitive answer as there's no one definitive cause smile

It "sounds" like the same issue I had, and I fixed it, please search for my threads on the S2ki site, near the end of a large thread I think.

As well as Dracoro's advise, have you tried some soft top waterproofing stuff? I think the one I use/was recommended to me is called Aerospace 303 or similar. basically makes any water on the top bead and run off rather than sinking into the fabric and working its way into the car.

Thumbs up for Aerospace 303.

I have some waterproofing spray on the way.

From what ive read then there are a few areas around the front of the seals that could do with some attention, will try and have a look tomorrow. Thanks for the pointers so far!

Had some time and some daylight today so took apart the leaky parts of the roof. Looks like the previous owner had been busy with various glues and bits of foam! Stripped all this off, cleaned things up and ran a line of sealant under the metal bracket that holds the front seal on. Seamed to fit together a bit nicer afterwards.

Sprayed a bunch of Gtechniq on after as well so fingers crossed ill see some improvement. Got some heavy rain forcast tomorrow so ill report back!

As above, Shin Etsu grease or silicon grease all over the seals stops it leaking.

Well 3 days of almost continuous rain later.. No leaks! I suspect its mostly down to the Gtechniq spray, very impressed with it (just dont get any overspray on the car!)

I had greased the seals already btw.

A well timed thread as I'm having the same issue so will have a look when its in the daylight.

On the subject, apart from the chap in Swansea does anyone know anywhere good regarding a replacement roof? Have been quoted £4k by the local Honda dealer rofl , £700 fitting + £400 for a roof from a local Honda specialist and ideally would like somewhere a bit more local than Swansea who can beat the above prices.

Not many people can beat John Smith to be honest in Swansea.

I had my roof fitted by Monsoon Automotive, full OEM replacement with original twilweave which is stronger than Mohair for £750. Still much more than the Swansea bloke, but that did include replacement rear glass as well.

Great thread, many thanks for this as I've just bought one and immediately replicated the same issue, much to the girlfriends annoyance! Just bought the Aerospace 303 stuff (original vinyl roof), but will also get some of this shin etsu grease.

What sort of sealant were you using around the framework?

You can get the grease from Chiltern Connections online. It is pretty expensive, but it lasts forever!

Put some chain protectors (from bicycles) and available at Halfords on the frame immediately behind your right ear when you sit in the drivers seat (left ear other side) as that part of the hoop wears the top of the roof. They are Jungle something and you need the large size.

Grease i got from http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/ pretty good prices for general service bits.

Sealant i have been using Stormsure (have a look on ebay) Strong bond and pretty flexible.
