Honda Accord 1.8 VTEC
Discussion
Right, Ive been running a 2003 VW Passat for four years and its starting to cost me money, the latest problem being some white smoke, i.e.possible turbo problem. Could be time for it to go and I just want a cheap reliable banger for getting me to work and the family around at the weekend...so I've seen a nice tidy Honda accord 1. V-TEC for sale, well two of them actually, £695 or £995 on ebay. I really fancy a nice cheap reliable Honda. One has done 54,000 miles the other 78,000 so theoretically they should have a lot of life left (my Passat has done 128,000).
Anyway, can anyone give me any info on these cars. Are they as dog slow as the 0-60 time suggests? Is the 1.8 a lot slower than the two litre? One thing my Passat does do is go quite well, so I don't want anything too slow.
Presumably they are reliable? Feedback wanted please!!

I have a 1.8, great little car, has stood up to eight yrs of spirited driving.
Mine has done 145k, in the last eight yrs it has had one decent service (a year after I bought it) after that I've done nothing to it, bushes have gone, it knocks and rattles but still keeps going.
Only major problems were the ignition switch (common and known problem) and a wheel bearing.
Driven it for over 100k.
Great in the snow.
