My Wiring is rotting away
Discussion
Started taking apart the Civic to fix several electrical faults and I have found that in each instance it seems to be corrosion that is causing the issues
First was the central locking and alarm, disassembled the drivers door to find the alarm/central locking control unit sitting in a pile of green dust and was so badly corroded the wires had split. I've sorted this all out and I thought this was because the seals around the door had failed which I renewed
But now im on to the main dashboard lighting and the gearbox PRNDD321 lights which go out until a hard whack is delivered to the affected area, and I have found the same thing. Copper wiring that has gone brittle and green due to age/corrosion
Everything is now fixed, but is it normal for this to start happening at 13 years old? The car has never seemed damp and does not steam up too easily
