Are these imports? Are there any other major differences over the more usual 2 door?

Do you mean one of these?

If so it's a JDM Civic Saloon. Here's an old PH story on one:

I've no experience of them, but I think they look awesome and have good performance stats on paper.

The chassis code for one thing....it's not a DC2 but a DB8!

As above - JDM only DB8, very rare in the UK (aware of 2 or 3, all '96 models (4-stud hubs, smaller brakes than UK DC2)).

Not sure if any spring/damper/geo differences to the DC2, but think it's got a longer wheelbase, so will handle slightly differently.

If you're after a practical-but-fun car, I'd probably be going for an ATR, to be honest - the extra torque will be handy and it'll be a lot easier to get parts for / cheaper to insure. Only big downside vs the DC2 is the lower rev-limit meaning you momentarily drop out of VTEC in a couple of gears when changing up.

Some ATR parts can be expensive. But they not as rare as db8 so can still get parts at least.
Type r everybody should own one at some point in life

Have a look on the ITR-DC2 forum, there is one I know of on there although it is not a Type R.

There should be some good information on them if you search and the odd one can pop up for sale, albeit not very regularly.
