I've been getting a fancy for these rare but to my eyes good looking current shape Accords, just wondered if anyone on here has owned or driven one and has any views. The Type S diesel looks like a bit of a sleeper. According to J Clarkson goes like a startled rabbit. Either that or the ultra rare petrols...as I generally prefer petrols these days as there are less bits to go wrong!

I've had mine (2010) for two months and 3.5k miles now - a diesel automatic. I didn't like the drive at all at first, mainly due to the Fordson Major soundtrack, but I'm now used to it. It's my first diesel so I find it a bit hard to acclimatise. It is an excellent, comfortable cruiser with reasonable economy for a big, heavy motor and the autobox (with paddles as well) is excellent. The steering is a bid dead (after my 4WS Prelude) but presumably that's because it has all the high-tech driver aids waiting to kick in.
The bad news is - the paint and finish is absolute rubbish. It's by far and away worse than any other Honda I have ever owned and I've had lots. It would disgrace a Citroen. I live in France, where owners don't seem to care much what they get - maybe UK market ones are better.
And - if you find one that appeals to you for goodness sake open the sunroof and check that the metal surround to the roof panel isn't rusting away and distorting the rubber seals. Mine is now the subject of a dealer's guarantee claim on Honda France. If you look at 8th generation Accord forums you will find lots on this particular issue. Apparently Honda UK has now caved in and replaces them. Shouldn't happen to a car with a once great reputation and that now costs a remarkable amount of money (when new anyway).
