High mileage S2000s...
Discussion
I've often fancied an S2000 as a second car and scanning through autotrader today saw one for sale with an amazing 193,000 on the clock! My question is, after all those miles how many horses do you think it would still make on a rolling road. I mean with a car that relies totally on high revving BHP rather than torque, a loss of BHP would make a difference. Any owners of high mileage S2000 ever stuck theirs on a rolling road?
I havnt had an S2000 but I did do 70k in an Accord Type-R and I reckon that was unaffected by the mileage. My theory is that they rev so high that they burn cleanly.
If the car has a great spot-on service history and was run on super-plus unleaded (basically Shell) then i reckon it will still have 95% of its power.
I bet 240 at the start, 100k on the clock & still get 235hp

Ive had my Accord on a few rollers over the years, with the last one at 170k miles. It's always made between 169 & 172hp, which is bang on the rated 171hp @ 8500rpm. It even made 173hp on the last run after de-restricting the airbox. She's on 175k now and still goes like a stabbed rat upto the limiter.
If it's been looked after and is well engineered, an engine should not lose power as it covers miles. Also worth noting that the F20C is a pinnacle of engineering and quite possibly the best N/A 4-cylinder that has ever been put into a car. I would trust it to have all its power at that mileage, provided it's been looked after.

Can't really help with rolling road figures or really high mileage but I'm now on 94k miles and it still pulls as strong as ever. As long as its but kept regularly topped with oil they seem very strong although I've heard a few stories about the newer engines being a bit weak but I don't have any details as to which are the problem ones, so I guess I have been no help at all!

Mine is also around 90K, and everything still works and feels tight exactly as it should do.Gassing Station | Honda | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
