Hi All!

This is the first time i've actually started a fourm discussion on here so bear with me!
Just a little bit of background - i'm 19, driving an 07 Honda CR-V with 79k on the clock on I spend most of my time on here and other car websites. As soon as insurance stops being ridiculous, i'm getting myself something PHworthy biggrin (using the Euromillions that i#m planning on winning tonight)

Enough of that, now what I actually wanted to talk about. Just bought myself a plug'n'play chip tuning kit from racechips.de - claims to give an extra 30-40bhp and 50-60 lbs/ft (2.2lr TDCI engine)

Fitted it during my lunchbreak at work, which was a much harder job than the manual claims, and went for a wee test drive. Felt very different in 1st gear, not so much in 2nd (I was only going round the office estate) but the only thing that worried me was the transmission light was always on and it took a a bit longer than usual to fire up the engine.

Wondering if anyone has any prior experience with this company/chipping this car and if they have any tips? Or should I play it safe and make use of the 14 day return policy?

What happened? Is the car still throwing up a warning light? Is it a manual or auto?

Hate to be a killjoy, but you need to tell your insurance company if you're planning to keep the chip...

Well I tried it over the weekend, did about 100 miles in it which I have heard is how long the chip needs to re-progamme itself. Sadly I still got the warning light coming up every time I was driving, and the start ups were getting worse and worse.

Taken the chip out and whilst the power delivery is less smooth, it feels no less fast so i'm not that upset about losing it. This has made me want to get an actual proper remap though - car's out of warranty and all so i'm not worried about voiding any of that, I was just too cheap to get one in the first place..!

Oh and yeah the insurance, it's only £10 with a chip on it, but as i've taken it out after 3 days there's no need to declare.

In all, bit of a let down but i'm undeterred as my dad's had so much success tuning his cars!

I'm not a fan of the crude add-on boxes. You may want to discuss your requirements with Celtic Tuning for a proper remap.
