I've recently signed-up as I'm looking to buy one, but all my posts "have to be reviewed by a moderator before they appear", and so far only 1 post out of 4 has made it up (and that on the 2nd attempt).

I'm sorry, but WTF?!? This is a niche forum for a very specific and fairly rare car, and they're trying to put people off joining the forum??? Are they trying to kill residuals on their cars, or is the forum-admin just trying too hard to "protect" current owners???
(I nearly posted something less polite, but I've not met the chap)

Compared to the NSX forum, who greet every new visitor with open arms and a ton of info/advice on the cars for sale, it's absolutely staggering. And the NSX is a bigger target for traders as it's appreciating right now...

I did that in a post (only one so-far published, 2nd time around), and got given the party line.

FFS, wouldn't take 2mins to google me on here and itr-dc2.com - been around for years!

1) Dunno.

2) Yes - albeit not immediately. Also there's a trader car I'm interested in, want to see if there's any history on the forum.

PS - why would their forum be any more subject to spammers than any other???

One of the problems with one-make/model forums, it gets way too cliquey, moderator powers dished out just for having a certain number of stickers or airbox on your car etc, and these people form circle-jerks that only serve to further inflate their sense of self importance.

Your posts are not worthy of going up on the board without being read first by a mod. HTH. wink

To be fair, the FD2 forum has had really major spamming issues and they've even been offline for a while.

It's not cliquey at all, past FD2 owners stay on and update on their M3s or whatever they've moved onto.

It's all run by one chap and does it out of his own pocket mostly.

Stick with it... smile

David,

Will take your word for it, but right now Arch is coming across very "small town cop"* at me, and not being at-all welcoming. Not the best approach to new members, even ones like me who post up slightly-arsy "where are all my posts going?" threads.

Mastodon - I take a similar view to you, typically...but in fairness neither of us needs to deal with the hassles a forumadmin gets. That said, if you don't want the job...

* If he's running it with no support and no real gratitude, I have some sympathy, but he's going to kill it if he continues like that.

Hi,

PM replied to and actioned...

I'm sorry to hear that's been you experience so far. I can defend Arch as I agree that it's easier to be polite about things rather than arsy.

The other members have always been helpful.

That's not really going to get you anywhere and make you sound like you could be more trouble than you're worth. Just be polite. smile
Aye...but when you've made a post and 24hrs later it's not appeared...and that's happened twice...

My, small world isn’t it? Shame I hadn’t noticed this before but hey, I don’t really have the time to check out lots of different forums to see who is slagging me off where.

It would appear the moral of the internet story is, if you don’t get your own way immediately on another forum then:

1) Don’t bother asking nicely with say a please or a thanks, just make some snide or self righteous remarks first
2) If that doesn’t work, after being informed of the forum rules that you agreed to when you registered for the site, go to another forum and make some derogatory comments about the other person running it.

Bit of a one sided story isn’t it, so let’s have a look at some of those very important posts that ‘went missing’ for nearly 24 whole hours. I’m sure the rest of the regulars were gutted at the loss of these fine contributions.

How long do you have to be a member before......moderators stop vetoing every post you make???

I've lost 3 posts already, and while I can understand the desire to keep traders and those seeking a quick buck off the forum members out, I'm getting a little p'd off with wasting my time.

And if I'm getting p'd off by it, you can bet that a casual visitor considering buying the car vs 2 or 3 alternatives would be too...and may give up on trying to get info and go off and buy something else instead!

Any comments???

Cheers,

Martin.

(Did post this last night but it never appeared - not the first post by me - do newbie posts have to be authorised or something Orwellian like that???)

Last question - when can I start sending PMs...would like to check on the availability of a couple of parts before I go look at a car, so I know where I stand.

Didn't mean to offend anyone, but I've not come across ANY forum where newbie posts have to be vetoed - does sound rather draconian, spam-control or not (and yes, NSXCB has had some real problems with spammers, we've not resorted to anything like that).
havoc said:
Was I pushy about it - yes - I've been on over half a dozen different fora (still active on 3) and never had this*, nor was I aware of the spamming problems until you and David mentioned them. For the record I don't like the whole 'big brother' approach, but I've not been in your position so I'll withhold judgement as to whether it's necessary.

Anyway, if you've noticed I've been carrying on in the main forum as if this conversation never happened, so if you'd like to wind your neck in (and your fan boy / fan club above), then I'd like to carry on as normal, please?

I don't want to get into a urinate contest Arch - I already know a couple of people on here (one ex-owner, one current) and both have good things to say about the club and the people. But I'd had a few posts "go missing" for close to 24hrs, and despite the 'moderator approval' flag, wondered what was going on**. So I decided to post up about it - not unreasonable, I'd have thought...

Of course, I google every new person that joins to check out their history, just so I can be sure that myself or those Draconian forum rules don’t upset them.

I’m off to polish my badge and truncheon now but I’d just like to finish by thanking those that spoke up for me on here. It is appreciated and I hope you continue to enjoy and make use of the forum.

Oh dear...did I upset your nice little fiefdom Arch.

I notice you've not posted up the olive-branch I offered, nor the context/timing of my posts, and of course you deleted the initial conversation from the Newbies forum - selective posting is great, eh, when you can control what people see?!?

Edit: Was going to tone this down, but then went back on fd2owners. Nice to see you've been very adult about things, creating my profile for me. You really are a pathetic little kid, aren't you?!?

I've deleted nothing at all. Nothing. I never did. None of your posts went missing, they just sat in the moderation queue. Please feel free to quote anything I've written in reply to you on there.
