Hey guys, just a quick question really, my father in law is moving to Turkey for good soon and is leaving me with the job of selling his 1999 Honda S2000 for him. Question is, how much is it worth???

Looking EVERYWHERE, prices for these tend to vary from £3000-£10,000!!! It's in what I would call above average condition, with only minor stone chips and tiny scratches letting it down. It had a replacement hood a few years back with glass screen so that's in mint condition. The red leather interior is in good condition with usual wear to the bolsters letting it down a bit.

It's had a recent clutch change, has about 75K on the clock, UK car, sports kit add on's, S2000 plate comes with it, FSH, blah blah blah. To be honest I was thinking of making a very cheeky offer myself of a few grand, lol

Recent rear tyres, could do with new front tyres soon, has had new pads and discs recently...

Here's a picture of the thing anyway:

I'd say to get it mint condition it could do with a few hundred spent on bodywork as the defects are extremely minute, and ideally I'd replace the seats or have them reupholstered to get them mint as well.

Question is are OLD S2000's worth much??? And should I buy it instead of a BMW 330CI that I was going to get. (Big difference I know, but having driven this car it is ALOT of fun!)

Advice appreciated!!!

Get it bought man! Tell him you've looked around and his is the least desirable of them all, therefore it's not worth much. But you being the decent son in law that you are will give him over the odds for it. 2k later your sitting at 8000rpm having a fine time!

Well, not really, otherwise I would have just listed it for sale in the classifieds wouldn't I, lol. Plus it isn't for sale for about another 4 months, by of which time this thread would have been buried.

I'm just trying to scope how much these things are worth considering it is now 14 years old.

I don't want to make an offer of £3000 if it's worth £2000, lol

When selling a car like this things like, what sort of history it has (full Honda or DIY) what sort of paperwork do you have evrey single bill, all the old MoT's etc, is it kept outside under a tree, or inside in a heated garage, what tyres it has, (premium french brand or something you have not heard of from Poland) etc, etc...

All these things will have an effect on how much you will get in a private sale. Good S2000's are always sort after, but there are a lot of bent ones out there!

Its really not hard to get a grasp of what its worth by looking in the classifieds. Its obviously worth more than £2k if the cheapest car you've seen in £3k.

If it hasnt had wheel alignment done recently then you should budget for £800 if the bushes are seized.

Probs worth about 5k, the market has firmed up for S2000's over the past 6 months.

Insurance has come down on them recently too...!

You might want to advertise on www.s2ki.co.uk, as well as PH. Prices are very much mileage dependent.

8000 rpm, why short shift!!!!!

Mine red lines at 9000 rpm, and is an absolute hoot, when its fully on song.

I think you'll find 8000 rpm is a "fine" time, where as 9000 is "proper VTEC yO time"

that's exactly what i'm looking for, perfect colour and combo, mileage and condition.

Shame it's 5 month until I'm 21 and can insure one.
