I have a 2005 Honda Jazz and have discovered that the wing mirror has snapped off. The plastic inside the unit that holds the wing mirror on and upright appears to have sheared - can this be mended, repaired or replaced without considerable expense?

The wing mirrors are heated/electric/fold-in/same colour as the paintwork and I'm loathed to pay for a new one as the electrics are still working and there is no external damage.

Are you my wife? She has a Honda Jazz and is always denting it.

Anyway, your best is Ebay for a colour match. Buying a new unit would be expensive and then you would have to have it painted. I couldn't tell you if the current one could be mended without looking at it, but it sounds unlikely.

You should be able to get a second hand one from there, otherwise try breakeryard.com. You can request the part and anyone with a matching part will email you a price.

You're my OH - her Jazz has a dent/scratch on EVERY panel....

She did the same, it was a "mystery" - the matching paint on the telegraph pole outside was coincidental.

As for fixing - no, you can't, I looked in to this at length - It's a new mirror. I got a heated one, colour matched, for about £30 from a breaker on ebay - don't try to get a black one and get it painted, it's not worth it.

Fitting it, however, is a laugh a minute (!) as you need to remove the door card to do it. A haynes manual will help as Honda will charge a lot for this....

What is with wifes denting Honda Jazzs? My wifes looks like it has done 5 tours of duty in Basra.

Heh heh

Like the time she reversed in to my Golf - which was my fault "for parking it there" (!)

I don't think I'm your wife!

Thanks for the advice. Having tried gaffa tape (silver to match the car!) I'm looking into second hand parts and getting our local garage to fix it on.

Obviously my husband has seen the mirror that is dangling off!

Use ebay and don't pay more than £35...
