Hi,

I need a new water pump fitting and have been quoted £227 all in for the job at my local garage (not main dealer).

Does this sound about the right price?

Also is their anything else that should be changed while they are in the vicinity of the pump?

I have read that the timing belt should be changed but the car has a timing chain so presumably not applicable?

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

What engine?

The aux belt has to come off to remove the water pump so worth replacing that at the same time unless it was done recently. Price for a genuine Honda pump for the 2.0l petrol is £125 ish (non trade), so plus two hours labour at £50/hour price seems reasonable ( I haven't done this I am just guessing two hours) - doesn't look that hard. The thermostat is accessible without removing the pump so no need to replace that at the same time unless it is considered to be faulty.

Thanks for the reply. Yes 2.0L petrol. The aux belt was changed three years ago after I bought the car.

Not sure if it will be a genuine Honda pump? Are the aftermarket ones ok?

I don't know to be honest. Other than service items and brakes parts for the Accord are hard to come by outside of Honda parts. ECP has one at £58 which is half the price. Not sure if that means that it is half as good?
