Hi, my civic type r 2003 vetec was not kicking in then it did parked car up and in the morning started it but cut out after 5-10seconds and had a miss fire on cylinder 2, I have changed the cam and crank sensors cleaned all the earths replaced ecu checked the timing and still the same, swapped injectors around still the same and coils, would this miss fire cause the ecu to shut the engine down? I have also done a compression test and all is good only fault code was misfire detected in cylinder 2. Any idea please? Thanks

Needs valve clearance adjustment? Not sure it would cause the engine to shut down like that though but can through misfire code

Has the cam timing jumped due to the tensioner being worn and stretching the cam chain due to lack of oil

Hi everyone, thanks for the reply, oil was at right level but changed it just incase, tried everything with the car but I will not take it to Honda as they will charge a bomb and still say they don't know wots wrong with it. Last day on it tomorrow before I either get a hammer to it or blow it up. Cheers

Did you get sorted?

Whereabouts are you? There are many specialist up and down the country who will/would be able to sort this for you at less than dealer rates...

Try A.L Automotive in Torquay. Excellent indy and what they don't know about Hondas is not worth knowing. Tel: 01803 298788 and ask for Adam.
