As per thread title really. On the way home today of about a 3 hour trip (wasn't really hanging about), nearly home and the oil warning light came on. Drove sedately home, but when I checked the level, it was fine - not really anywhere near the min. mark, more like halfway. I topped up just a tiny bit to bring it maybe 3/4 up to the max. line, and been for another run until it was nice and warm tonight, but light not back on.

She's 7,500 miles out of the last service, done 36k in all. I'm wondering whether they're just ultra sensitive to a little loss, or whether it's something I need to bother getting checked before the service is due?

The "oil level indicator" is just that, an advisory that you need to think about topping up your oil, general rule is yellow = advisory and red = warning, those engines do use a bit of oil now and again as the oil itself is ultra thin, I would just check the dipstick once a week to be on the safe side.

Cheers.....Tony..

I check the level as per honda instructions - every 5/600 miles, mostly as everything I've read suggests these engines drink the stuff. Since picking up the car in June (7.5 k miles ish) it doesn't seem to have used any, weirdly, and as I said, my confusion is that the level was still about middle between the two marks. I'll just keep an extra vigilant eye on it I guess!

If the oil light keeps coming on when the level is ok then take it to your local dealer. There is an ECU update which will cure it
