Hi All.

Got to start looking into this problem - had it a while.

When my fuel tank's half full - and below - driving hard into roundabouts results in a massive flat spot.

Entering slower, with no throttle, or keeping the fuel tank above half - all's ok :-)

Possible fuel pump\surge?

The car's a completely standard EP3.

Cheers,
Neil

Have you checked the oil level? If that's fine I'd suggest checking oil and fuel filters...

Check the fuel filter in the tank.

Thanks for replies;

I stay on top of oil level, changes and filter. Am certain it's fuel related - does same everytime tank drops to 50% and lower. As I've not done much with the fuel filter - I'll check that out!

Cheers,
Neil

I know it's been some time after the post - and after finding the problem.... You never know if the info is good for others if searching for the same in future?

The problem was found to be part of the fuel pump. Not the pump itself, but a plastic hinged "caged" the EP3 pump sits in. My cage was brocken - seems the pump was simply floating in the fuel and suspended simply by the wiring loom and fuel pipe! Seems tension on the wire had been breaking it gradually, but cut out was due to fuel pick-up part of pump rising out of the fuel and just sucking on air on right-handers! Pump finally died when last strand of muli-core broke on the supply wire!

Go figure!

Only thing I can think of is about 5-6 years previous - I'd bottomed the car in Wales sliping off a narrow track when reversing. Car was bottomed on rocks, got pulled out. No damage on inspection and all was at reversing speed. Wonder if bottom of plastic fuel tank got pushed up and broke the mechanism inside? But must have been like this for all those years since! Testiment to Hondas - if so ;-)
