After reccomendations for a set of new tyres for an EP3 Type R. It seems the standard size is 205/45/17 but some owners switch to 215/40/17 as there is more choice, the extra width protects the rim and its a tad cheaper. The car is lowered by 40mm but it seems the wider tyres will be fine.

The options in the budget include the Falken FK452, Falken ZE912, Toyo Proxes T1R, Avon ZZ3. Kumho KU39 and the Hankook K110 Ventus.

Any suggestions about which ones to go for?

I found I had better choice in 225/45/17 than in 215/45. Might be worth a look, I thought EP3s had 215s as standard.

205/45/17 as standard. 215/40 is cheaper and will fit OEM alloys but looks a bit silly if your car's not lowered. 225's will clear the arches but are too wide for OEM alloys

I've got no experience of the tyres in question, have always run Bridgestone RE040's on mine for the last 8 years as I love the stiff sidewalls. The Toyo's and Parada's I've driven on friends EP3's feel like driving on jelly in comparison when you start to lean on them.

Right I run 215/40/17 on my CTR which is also my track car. I'd question running budgets on a CTR especially as your driving a near 200bhp car with no driving aids??? tyre choice is important!!!

Now I run both Yokohama Parada spec 2's £90 a corner and Yokohama Advan's £136 a corner. Both a fantastic on track however the Paradas are dangerous in the wet IMO on normal roads.

A good all round tyre choice would be Toyo proxes (very soft) or the Avon ZZ3.

Best plaes either Camskill or blackcircles.

Hi, I made a similar thread a few months ago. I needed fronts for my EP3 and opted for Ventus V12 Evo K110. I've got no reservations about the dry performance of the tyre and I have given them a comprehensive test. As for the wet they certainly turn in better than the previous lower range tyres I had but ultimately I don't drive particularly quickly in the wet, which is probably a common theme with EP3 owners.

I went with Blackcircles. Providing they have partner garages near you (which is incredibly likely) the service is fantastic. If my memory serves me correctly, the cost is broadly equal to purchasing the tyres from a company such as Camskill and having a local garage fit them, but with zero hassle.

I have tried a few set of tyres in my EP3, and I found the best ones were Michelin Primacy HP 215/45/17 , with the Bridgestone Potenzas not even coming close to the michelins especially in the wet!!

I put Avon ZZ3s on mine and I was happy with them.
