Civic diesel... Thoughts?

Hi All,

Looking for a reliable new motor for commuting. I was thinking of an old shape 2001-2005 Honda Civic diesel. Are these any good? Any other good cheap reliable diesels around?

Fitted with an Isuzu 1.7 diesel engine. According to my old Civic brochure it produced 100hp, max torgue was 220Nm and the 0-62 was 11.6 seconds. Combined mpg was quoted as 56. Only available in SE trim?

I test drive a 2005 model in 2006 and was not impressed. Engine seemed rough and car was slow. I bought a late 2005 2-litre Type-S instead, which I still own.

better go in for 2.2 CTDI which was introduced 2006?? Peach of engine,no dpf,heavy on Clutch & Brakes though...
