Rust on rear arches and sunroofs.
Check for warning lights as the distributers can cause faults for crank angle etc.
That said they can be bought cheap now, I paid Honda £400 back in the day.

That's the thing there's a few spots of rust on the rear arches, it seems to only be surface rust, u reckon i can get away with just sanding down and re spraying or will i need to replace??

If so all the advise i can get would be appreciated. i.e where to get arches etc etc...

Thanks.

When I had mine done it came back a tiny blemish approx 18 months later. I suppose it depends how bad it is and how good a job is done removing rust and rust proofing.
Its the plastic strips that hold water in around the wheel arches which effects a lot of Hondas. My Prelude was the same and I have even seen an S2000 with the same rust spots.

Hmmmm see now thats the thing i know 18 months is a long time but still seems like a waste of money and by the time you have it sprayed and treated twice you could probably get the arches redone for less.... i really wan't to buy the car but as long as i can get someone decent to sort the rust out one way or another.

As mentioned above, head over to CRX-UK forums. A wealth of knowledge to be found on there. The members are very helpful and willing to lend a hand if possible. Just remember to make use of the search facility on there lol.

Its been a while since I had one, both the 16v and the VTEC. Imported 16v also have Si in the title and the VTEC are sometimes referred to as SiR's. With the imports, you do come across examples with extra goodies such as air-con, power steering, etc. Main thing to look for is the rust. Check the rear arches and the sills. To get to the sills you will have to take off the plastic cover I believe. The sunroof is prone to rust but you can always get a replacement. I think I've also heard of people going for a carbon sunroof.

If you're going for the VTEC, you can check for fault codes on the ECU. Its under the carpet in the passenger footwell. Not sure of the exact process of reading faults but I think its something along the lines of, turn ignition on (one click), a light on the ECU will flash in a sequence. Bit like morse-code. You figure out the code and check against a list of faults. A search/new topic on CRX-UK should reveal more.

Mechanically, they are pretty sound. Providing theyve been cared for and well maintained. Be careful whilst looking, a lot of sheds out there. And people making various claims on power, mods, etc.

So yeah, I'd strongly suggest registering on CRX-UK. They have a few decent examples for sale, may have gone though. But they pop up now and again. I'm mika_98 on there btw smile

Good luck! I'm jealous lol

Amazing cars, I had two, one with rust hole on sunroof and one with holes inside* the rear wheel arches but no rust outside, so check for that. Also had to replace sills on one due to rust forming between the plastic sill covers and the metal. None of it was an expensive fix though and I never resented the cars because of their faults, they are just too rewarding in every other way.
