Hi All,

I wonder if someone might be able to offer some advice on my wheel arches on my ITR - the rear offside is beginning to show spots of rust. It's starting to go in the gap between the arch and rear bumper and near the bottom at the sill. I’m a relatively new owner and want to get this fixed before it turns into a real problem., because I know this is a weak spot on the car.

TGM in Fleet said its £250-400 per side depending on how bad the rust is, which struck me as expensive for what seems like minor and early corrosion. I thought I’d ask for opinions and whether there’s a bodyshop that people would recommend someone relatively near Basingstoke.

I had the rear interior panels out recently to change a broken aerial and saw some rust spotting in the inside of the wheel arches. I covered it with Hammerite and got a load of waxoyl in there so hopefully that will help.

Any advice much appreciated wink

I had my Honda serviced at TGM for five years and the guys down there are absolutely first class. I never felt like I'd been hard done by and typically the costs were 50% less than the local Honda dealer. I know numerous people that have had body work sorted out and they've been happy with the work.

Until the car is stripped down it's difficult to provide an accurate price. The last thing you'd want to do is fork out a little less money, only for the rot to come back

I Have the same problem with my DC2.

Have used TGM a lot in the past 6 years and they are excellent, IMO if you can get cheaper then the job probably wont be as good.

Will Gannon will sort your car out a treat. He did a rear quarter, door, and 3/4 respray for about £2k on a Clio. You couldn't tell where any of the work had been done.

I have been going there 6 years and had no problems. If that price includes vat then it is £300 a side; it's probably 6 hours prep at what £35-40hr plus paint and a bit of risk.

Seems reasonable to me.

Will is obviously Mr Bodywork at TGM!

If the rust is comming through from the inside, the only way to get rid of it is to have the metal cut out - in which case £400 is fairly good value - get it done before it gets any worse.
I've just had one rear arch on my S2000 done, cost me £700, mainly becuase I left it for a year or so after the rust bubbles first startedm couldn't believe how fast is spread.
