Hi there people.

Im about to inherit a 97 CRV from my Folks. Its got 105k on the clock. Always serviced by a Honda dealer.

Are there any troubles I should be aware of?

Thanks. Mike.

I asked before about these as I was looking to buy one as a run around. I think testing the transfer box was the main thing to check, apart from that no show stoppers smile I sure someone that will know more will add...

As long as it's had the rear diff fluid changed every 30k with genuine Honda DPF should be fine. If you get a grumbling noise when turning in a tight circle then it needs doing; simple DIY job and you don't even need to jack it up. Also the tappets need checking every 30k as they tend to close up and you'll end up with burnt valves and need a head job. If as you say it's been serviced by Honda then these things SHOULD have been done and it'll be good for another 100k. Timing belts are every 7 years or 100k miles so make sure it's been done! thumbup

Marvelous. Thanks for the heads up.

Its a significantly different drive to my 325! There is what seems to be a slight knocking from the front when going over bumps. Is this a hint that ball joints or something are loose maybe?

Mike.

Knocking from front suspension could be either front strut top mounting on its way out or anti roll bar drop links. You may get an advisory for these on an MOT but they're not normally a failure unless they're really bad. Same applies to the rear trailing arm bushes which can also make strange noises. Post up some pictures so we can have a look at it?! They're a super reliable vehicle provided you give them some TLC!

Oh and only ever use good quality coolant as Honda's don't like tap water.
