Honda CR-V Diesel Rattle

We've got a 2005 CR-V diesel as a family car and it's great, apart from the rattly diesel engine when it starts up. it gets better after idling for a bit, but still sounds like a van.

Any tips on trying to reduce this? On petrol cars you can adjust valve clearances etc (not sure if that reduces noise), and i'm wondering if there are similar things you can do to these diesel engines.
