I have noticed this from time to time , my other half never vtecs as she uses the car for the daily commute.

However i tend to as i never get to play in it much , from as far back as a year ago i sometimes get a small puff of grey, white smoke when the car engages vtec.

Could it be normal ? ie moisture build up then its pushed out as the vtec is engaged?

The car never uses water , the oil is fine and still goes like the wind.

I change the oil every 7.5 k miles and have done since we purchased it at 44000 miles.

Well from my experience of driving for over 30 years...I would say a sudden puff of smoke while vtec is pretty normal.....burning oil is a sign of constant smoke...worn piston rings excetera....as you say it dont use much oil or water, this is evident itself it isnt burning more oil than expected with normal driving.... while in vtec the car will burn quite alot more oil than normal....so if the car is still driving nicely with no notable difference in power...then everything i,m sure if fine.....A worn or damaged engine wont perform like it should......ps....most cars will puff a smoke when you put the pedal down quickly...
