'02 CRV - Navigation DVD APN2-11105 (v1.03)

I recently bought a CRV that has the Alpine navigation unit fitted along with the v1.03 DVD, this is part number APN2-11105.
The system does a decent job of navigation but I was wondering if there was an updated DVD available that is compatible with this unit as I'm guessing there have been a few changes since this one was manufactured in 2001?
I've looked online and can see various v2.x and v3.x updates but no mention of what the upgrade path is from v1.03 (if there is one) - has anyone got experience of doing this update?
The difference between version 2 & 3 is that version 3 can use touch screens. If yours isn't touch screen then version 2 may work although a new disc is around £180. In all honesty you're probably better using a Tom-Tom or Google maps on your phone than paying that price.
The Nav unit is also prone to breaking after around 5 years of use (my previous fitted to a Jazz lasted 6), especially if messed around with.
EBay often has some previously used discs from when owners have upgraded but beware of copies, not originals - they don't work.
