Its your call but I wouldn't want a CAT D on any car I'd own personally, especially an S2000.

Does look good tho for the money.

Deffo best to avoid a CAT D S2k, it's cheap for a reason! I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole even if was mega cheap, plently of nice straight examples for sale - get one of them.

Think about resale. You might aswell buy it and never take it off sale, id assume it would take months to sell a cat d sports car.

I bought a CAT D S for £4k and sold it for £6k. The car was flawless, low mileage and drove spot on.

CAT D is the lesser of the insurance write offs and most are repaired to a very high standard. How many cars out there that have had £5k of repairs yet still not written off and then sold on as perfectly straight cars.

They have a stigma due to ignorance and worried owners concerned about residual values on their perfect cars.

If you going into it with your eyes open and an open mind and don't pay over the odds it could turn out a good investment over the medium to long term.

A 2007 S with low mileage and 2 ladies owners for £6k has got to be a bargain in anyone's money.

Bargain?

Well if its a front end and the engine is affected then I would defo not be touching it. At the back of my head I would be thinking... will my brakes fail me or an engine issue results wink Sod that for a laugh.

A hardcore check of the car is definately needed! £7k is a lot of cash... personally I'd only buy a mint car with non cat C & D!

The last thing I would be worried about is the condition of the tyres.. I would be more worried about the condition of the repair!

It depends WHY it is a Cat d.

The car could have been in an accident and had structural damage, in which case I'd be wary of it

Or it may have been vandalised and only had cosmetic repairs and may be just as good as non-recorded cars.

Virtually every car will have some kind of damage at some point. Even brand new cars get repaired prior to being sold and this happens regularly.

Check the car out properly and never make assumptions.
