I have recently bought a Honda Accord Tourer with the optional 17 inch alloys. I knew before I looked at it that the reviews said these wheels tramline quite badly. When I test drove it I hardly noticed, now having had it for a few weeks it is bad at times and is getting on my tits.

Anyone know if changing the tyres helps? It currently has some Avon Ditchfinder 3000s on. Or should I switch to the smaller wheels?

Cheers

No. Second hand - 06 plate.

New for me, figure of speech!

Most Honda's with 17inch wheels do it, changing the tyres may improve it wont go away fully

Switch to smaller wheels.

We had 17's on our tourer from new. Got so fed up with it tramlining, I changed to the standard size. Made no end of difference! smile

Thought that might be the only option. Guess I could sell the 17s and get the money back for buying the smaller wheels.

Did you go for the 15s?

Never found it a problem in the saloon, on both original Epsilon 17s, and Inferno 17s.
Tyres have been Falken FK452, Accelera (on the car when I bought it), Toyo T1-R, Vredestein Sessanta, and now Hankook S1 Evo.
Before you throw money at new boots and/or alloys, have the car alignment checked first.
If still no different, then look at tyres or the wheels.
If it's happening on every road you drive along, I'd have to suspect alignment or upper/lower bushes.

I had this on my old 2.4 Tourer when fitted with Goodyear F1s. I later put ContiSportContacts on and they were much better.

I just got used to it in the end.

You need something with stiffer sidewalls. Try a Bridgestone or Pirelli P Zero tyre.

Yep, sold the 17's on Pistonheads last year and bought some second hand standard Honda wheels (I presume they were 15's!)
