Hello,
I have a 99 prelude auto. It's done a smidge over 66,000 miles and I Sam being told that the box needs a rebuild as it's getting worn.

Anyone else seen this? It's not driven that hard, though a lot of town driving may not help, but 60k's is a bit weak!!!

Thanks.

Who is telling you the box needs a rebuild and why?
Mine has done 110k miles and seems to be working the same as ever it did. I'm now looking for another, lower mileage, Prelude with the same box.

Pretty sure I read a very good explanation of the issues on the US Prelude forum. Seem to recall there was some misinformation around?

Cheaper to replace than repair?

I had one, never again will I touch the Honda slushbox...

Had to change it at circa 80k, fitted 4 different used boxes before I got one that would still change gear. Damaged boxes, would slip a little - struggle to get into gear or clunk when going in

My mechanics know a bit about quick Hondas and they generally said they were more trouble than they are worth - they recommending converting to a manual if I was going to keep it!
