DC5 reviews (esp. compared to S2000)
Discussion
folks,
my best mate has an S2000 - The engine note is just so addictive, I'm pretty hooked!
I'm considering a second car, but I need 4 seats, and am therefore looking at the ITR DC5 rather than the S2. Poring over the stats, I note that the engine has a bit less power (200 vs 237 I think) - but I think that the ITR is a little lighter - so one hopes that the overall performance should be pretty comparable between the two cars.
Can anyone vouch for the Teg? - esp in comparison to the S2000?
I'm really keen to hear any opinions from ownership experiences.
Cheers, Ace

Exactly^
One's a 2 seater sports car, the others a coupe. Chalk and cheese here. Obviously if you need more than 2 seats then it's the DC5 only lol. The DC5 will be a lot easier to drive quickly, especially in the wet.
In a straight line, there shouldn't be much in it, would be very close.
DC5 is about 1180KG with around 215bhp, the S2000 is 1250KG with 237bhp.
Just do a search of the forum for DC5, lots of comments, or visit the DC5 and check out Kingston above you's, buyers guide.

Thanks, I noticed in another thread that you mentioned a buyers guide, perhaps you could point me to a link, or PM it to me.
I realise that they are different propositions, but as I have 2 little children, its a lot easier to justify than the S2 !
Believe it or not, the other car that I'm considering is a 996 cabriolet, but the vtec is such an awesome noise and experience, I thought I would have a look at the 'teg - ( the porsche would obviously cost twice as much ass well!)
Many thanks, ace

surely an RX8 would be the best 4-seater alternative to an S2000? similar specs, RWD etc.
I did consider it, but reading through the historical posts on it, general consensus seems to be that the performance doesn't justify the running costs - i.e if you can live with 15mpg, then there are better cars out there
I've said this many times on here, but I'll say it again - the DC5 is a fantastic car, that's all there is to it.
OP, I can only suggest you find a nice one in the classifieds and go and drive it. Obviously it won't scratch that rear-drive itch of the S2000 and 996, but as FWD's go, it's up there with the very best.
