I think Nurburgring looks quite good, especially with factory spoilers and spats. It looks better on the facelift cars IMHO for the same reason, although as a rule I prefer the cleaner simpler lines of the pre facelift.

Half the problem with the NB cars is that some also come with a blue interior. Now I used to have a Porsche with a blue interior so I haven’t personally got anything against that either, but it isn’t as popular on the market.

It just means as a huge overgeneralisation that NB appeals to fewer people, so take longer to sell for less.

To be honest though, given what I think I can tell from adverts, NB cars often appear to have been better cared for, less messed with and be in better condition.
I agree with you on the simpler cleaner lines of the pre facelift which mine is. Also prefer the 16" wheels for the more chunky side tyre profiles to the larger wheels on the facelift.
The facelift does have a more aggressive front though which I also like.

Which Porsche did you have? I'm a sucker for old Porsches....60's to the 80's......though a later 996 gt3 rs would also be in my lottery win Garage!

I had a 2001 996, so last of the pre facelift. It was seal grey with metropole blue interior. The interior didn’t win me over to begin with but over time I came to appreciate that it was just a little lighter than black and distinctive without being bright and garish. I’m not sure the same can be said of the blue S2K interior!

Completely agree re 16’s on the PFL S2K too. I love the more classic race car look of the higher sidewall, but were in the minority! Each to their own...

Hence what I did to my spare set:

That's very tastefully done! I do like that....wheels, decals, look great. I don't think I've seen those side decals on an S2k before......are those oem?

Yes, the blue interior in the S2k is a little controversial especially when you have a blue dash to go along with it like the new one just spotted on ph.

Been paying attention to 996's lately. It seems they're getting much love now and prices have been on the rise. I guess it's always like that with Porsches.....the 964 come to mind.

Thank you, appreciated. They’re just decals off eBay. They’re shown (on the listing) on a FN2 Civic but next time you see an Abarth 595 you’ll notice the decals are virtually the same (apart from they say “Abarth”!). For £26 and a DIY application I thought it was worth a go and I’m please with the result.

Yeah it seems the 996s day may have come, although IMHO the mythical £10k car hasn’t been available for a long time and in fact they always were a £20k car by the time you’ve got them up to scratch.
In a way the biggest difference is that early manual C2 aero cars, especially with M030 suspension are now very highly prized and no longer just in the mix with all the others.

I kind of expected them to either stay at the price they were or start appreciating.

I've had mine for near 3 years now and I love the car to bits. Don't drive it much but it's always an occasion when I take it out.

it's a royal navy blue pearl which is a funky colour. I never expected it to pop as much as it does after good layer of wax and correction but it looks epic in the sun.

mine is an 04 so just after facelift but still with no TC and still cable throttle and lower tax. I was looking for 04-06 in particular when I got mine so this ticked all the boxes.

she's only done 34k miles and honestly, sits in the garage on a charger a lot as I don't often take it out in wet weather etc. Winter she's locked up and untouched for e.g.

I can see these cars slowly climbing, especially the good condition, rust free ones.

mine isn't standard so that probably devalues it in a lot of eyes.

I've changed wheels, big brakes, ohlins suspension, retrimmed interior, front splitter, exhaust, intake etc.

few pictures for those that are interested.

At the risk of repeating myself, as I have put this comment on the ‘Will the S2000 go down as a truly great car?’

There are currently 10 S2000’s on Autotrader between £19,450 and £22,500.

£23k is pretty much becoming the going rate for these cars.

Noticed 55 cars for sale on AT right now, I suspect the weather brings them out, however some of the higher mileage cars are looking for rather optimistic money..

There's one on AT for a little shy of £27k now. 11k miles, and looks mint condition in the pics.

Much like the recent Monaro thread in GG it's hard to judge market value on cars of that age/mileage/condition. I'm not interested at that price but if it was half that then buyers would be climbing over one another outside his house.

Special edition and low mileage - seems in line with the current market.

Will probably be bought by a collector!

Yep, number 93 of the GT100s. Probably came off the line on the last week of production. It'll probably go into hiding now and not be driven much.

Buying a super clean low miles car is a bit of a false economy. Ours had 17k when we purchased it, done around 7k in the last two years, cost me circa £3.5k getting the brakes up to spec, along with services + items and repairs that are age related.

IMHO an S2000 needs to be used, and ours certainly has been and no longer a garage queen..

Some people buy cars like paintings however, so that will probably end up a garage queen and the owner will probably be content with that! biggrin

Prices rocketed in the US last year, UK is now catching up.

I've just listed mine up for sale, thought I'd never do it as they are so much fun and so unique, but I've recently purchased a Porsche 987.2 Spyder which is nothing short of sensational apart from the stupid roof. Also put a bid on an Exige 410 so something has to go.

I feel I have one of the better S2000's, no rust, but then protected with Bilt Hamber last year, full suspension refresh using OEM/Mugen bushes and recent alignment along with Ohlins suspension.

I am asking 23k for a low owner car with two sets of wheels with brand new tyres and Ohlins suspension, if someone wants it with one set of wheels and stock suspension I will let it go for 20k. If no one wants it, fine I can keep it, I can just put it in storage. smile
