Sounds like you're on the right track already mate to be honest. Sportsman ET is the perfect place to dip your toe in the water. First port of call I'd say would be to join the Santa Pod Racer's Club (www.eurodragster.com/sprc from memory) and you'll get a rule book through that which will explain all the various classes and categories, plus it's the first step to getting your competition license.

cheers for reply.

is there any big diffrence between racing at sata pod, shakespere or york as york is alot closer to me, being from manchester.

what would be the progression upwards from this, as this is bracket racing and i suppose in end i would want to come out of this yeah?

York is fine for the level that you intend to race at, although Sportsman ET and the rest of the National Championship categories don't compete there. There are numerous bracket races that are held there throughout the year though.

Santa Pod has by far the best racing surface, nicest pit area and the best organisation of the three. Saying that though, Shakespeare County Raceway hold Sportsman ET rounds and is a very relaxed place to compete.

The logical progression from Sportsman ET would be to go to Pro ET (dial your own index bracket racing) or Super Street (10.90 index).

Go to www.eurodragster.com/sprc and click on the Starting Racing link.

There is a lot of good advice there about getting started and the licencing stuff and race procedures also applies to Shakespeare County or York of course, it's just different Clubs which run the races at those tracks.

The UK National Championships run at SPR and SCR but not at York. That's a large part of it.
