Just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone at SCR for a cracking weekend, great weather, great racing and i hope i did at least a half decent job at spotting, i certainly learnt alot and really enjoyed it, even if i did feel like a piece of bacon after getting too much sun! big well done to Mr Frost, car looked great out there, Splinters last run was great too and also phil sweeney in his new altered....oh and the 587 crew of course, first of many finals im sure. bad points of the weekend...feel so sorry for andy chilton in super mod, the hole in the side of the engine didnt look good at all, real bad luck guys and also the need for weed guys, i was finding bits of iron all over the track. another thing that took off semend to be the 1/8th mile hot rod drags on the other runway, everyone enjoyed themselves and asked for it to be done again.
to continue the thanks...
Simon Barlow of Orange Pop Team, for letting my little lad sit in your car on Saturday, it was one of his many highlights of the day and his first time at a drag racing event.
Also congrats to Andy Burfitt (9.50 bike winner) and Martyn Sanger (Super Street runner up), two guys local to me from North Dorset.

Not a bad weekend for me, although it ended a bit prematurely. Saturday was good, with a big breakout on the first sighting run, then an 8.92 to put me in the #2 spot. We didn't get a third qualifier due to curfew, and were told the third session would pick up again on Sunday. I'm still not quite sure why that didn't happen, but there you go. sunday was a day of breakages for me, with a transmission mounting bracket shearing, and the same happening to the coil mounting bracket. Thanks to some welding by Richard Walters, I was back up and running, only to run into fuel starvation problems at the top end. Blockages in the fuel filter and check valve were causing low fuel pressure, but once we'd got that fixed, we only had one run to try and get a handle on how the car was running (much better, it turned out!).
Despite being shockingly late on the tree, I took out Spencer Tramm in the first round, as much due to his error as my racing. Then I lost to Paul Knight in round two by virtue of a bigger breakout. A disappointing exit, but at least it was a good race.
Congratulations are due to Frosty for some outstanding runs, and also to Hodgy, who appears (from the times up on Eurodragster) to have lost an extremely close final.
Now let's go and do it all again next week :-)

Thanks Tet although it was'nt as close as you think, well it wouldve been if I had'nt red lit by 0.01 (really struggled with the rollout in the left lane all weekend)
Great weekend though, my 1st Pro E/T final, car was stupidly consistent, ran a new PB and the weather was excellent. Congrats and thanks to all involved, roll on Euro finals.

cheers everyone, appreciate it....should have got to the final but we too red lit by .01 in the left lane when we'd been no closer than .02 to perfect the whole weekend...i was stunned...
Well done Hodgy and to Andy Kirk on winning the Super Mod championship.Commiserations to "Fred" Hone who along with his crew spent all night going to London, removing an engine, bringing it back and fitting it to the car only to be 10mins late from the call on Monday....

Cheers Andy, with a bit of luck we'll take the big prize at the National Finals *crosses fingers*. A pretty cool weekend by all accounts, although tyre shake in the first qualifier ripped out most of the left rear arch (hence the racer's tape band-aid). We (as a class) thought the startline was pretty shocking to be honest, the majority of us lost a tenth to 60ft, we just couldn't get traction. But, number 1 qualifier, quickest pass of every elimination and qualifying round as well as a win...couldn't ask for more.
Congrats on the new record too, I love it when the end of season comes around, all the RSSE seem to turn the wick right up for the last couple of events! Hopefully there'll be another couple of 7 second cars by the time the season ends
Gutted for Andy Chilton and the lads. They'd literally just made the decision to sell the engine and go for a nitrous combo next year when the rod let go
Well done to Fred and the team too, A+ for effort. Nice run with the 7.59 too, although I don't think the car was tech'd after the new lump went in? That car never fails to get down the track regardless of the conditions, right back to when Mr. Packman was at the helm...Hakan Averstedt sure built a good 'un there!!

strange i've heard lots of different opinions on the start over this weekend some said it was excellent others said it was poor. I know we run a hell of a lot less power than you guys but we recorded 3 p/b 60fts this weekend with no changes to the car at all and others in Pro did the same. seems it was real good up to a certain level of power then tailed off rapidly.
Yeah pretty much. I think the final sums it up; we ran a 7.80 @ 180mph which is a massive speed for that et. Our 60ft time was a 1.28, where as our average is 1.14-1.16 with a best of 1.12. We tried backing off the power to hook up and were losing et at the top end because it was running out of steam. We ended up having to put in a big tune-up so then when it did hook up she'd motor down the track, hence the big speeds with relatively slow et's. Our suspension and clutch were set up exactly the same as when we ran 7.61 at the last Shakey event.
Tim Garlick was in exactly the same boat; that car will run 1.13-1.15 60ft times all day long but he too was running mid 1.20's. The nature off the Super Mod (nitrous car) rules requires the cars to be very aggresive to get the most out of the restricted motors, unfortunately the conditions weren't really there for us. Even our 7.66 pass that put us in the top spot was fraught with traction problems....shifting in to 4th gear at 150mph was still turning the tyres hard.

Someone say breakages... we had bye runs all the way to the final in s/pro where John red lit by a very small margin. Anyhoo, the Alien seemed to be attacking the track at the 1/8th on the last two runs (what's new).
The organisation was hit and miss and the screaming ladies who have no manners need lessons in etiquette. Aside from that everyone seemed to work their butts off.
We had a most satisfying weekend. ^_^
p.s...Bulldog Bash 21 was the name of the meet.....the timing tickets said so!

it was ok for me too, although 1.4 60fts will stand less chance of turning the tyres.I guess because i wasn't trying to rotate the earth like a few others in the class was the reason we did ok ET and speedwise.I think the nat finals track will see some good times.I know for sure we'll be going faster. The power curve was so lame this weekend.....

so a 7.87 @ 188 is not too shabby then??..lol i know on the 7.89 i felt it turn the tyres at 1000ft which is about 170ish....scary thought eh..Tim Garlick was in exactly the same boat; that car will run 1.13-1.15 60ft times all day long but he too was running mid 1.20's. Congrats to Frank & Luke, Mr. Frost (I didn't see it, but I heard it....), Lee Kirk, and Terry Clifford for a top notch performance all weekend.
A big thank you also to Jeff Bull for the loan of his bead breaker, and Chris & Clayton Round for some spark plugs that actually fit the new heads.....
It was hard work, and I advise you all to not sprint around the pits when it's really sunny, tis quite a knackering experience....
