no jon the engine is Linsey Deuchar's old engine in the photo its done a 5.9 in his top methanol dragster thats with a whipple blower which was a high helix roter blower the blower i am using is ex Kenny Burnstien top fuel ssi c rotor blower so wont produce quite as much boost it will run port and hat/blower injection plus we arnt putting as much overdrive and timing into it so we can run the motor fat and safe and reasonably low maintainance
i also have an almost identical spare engine just in case
the car will definatly be out at the begining of next year and will run in
Wild Bunch and maybe Supercharged Outlaw and possibly Comp Eliminator as its fully sfi legal only need the trans and a few bits and bobs then it will be ready to paint and assemble

very nice, just a point though - whipples are screw blowers not high helix

It's sweet, it has the right engine but it lacks one thing... the rollcage needs to be more led back and nostalgic, i'm not a fan of these large cages on slingshots.

the rollcage is swept back as much as the sfi rules allow it was one of my requirements when Roy built it the angle you see it at doesnot do it justice i will post another pic from the side. the top of the cage is only 46 inches from the ground which is very low as i am not a small bloke.

you do realise you are going to s@*t yourself dont you?
i here you have never been down the track in anything let alone a blown fuel slingshot. take it from me i have been down in all maner of cars mostly very fast street cars but the first time i went down in a 10 second slingshot it woke me up i have been down sideways, wheels up. even blew the motor at a 1000 foot. but the thought of what my new car will be like with around 4/5 times more power and tourqe than i have ever had the pleasure of scares the crap out of me. the car has evolved to what i have now as it was only ever going to have a blown big block in hindsight iif i knoew i was going to have the motors i have now i would have had 225 inch chassie made out of chromoly instead of 167" its tagged to 7.5seconds so we have got to slow the motor down.
as for yor car how come you had it made so short?
and why are you going nitro?

dont get me wrong jon i hope you get out ther and have some fun and show the people who say you cant doit wrong. The more wild nostalgia carson the track the better in my oppinion. I have never met you so cant have an oppinion eitherway and was not critisising what you are doing just intersted in the reasoning behind going the way you have especially as a first car. i am in a similar boat to you as i know of a few people in the wild bunch who think that im some jumped up tossa who thinks he is the big i am cos of my new car...well sod them things have got to progress and people have got to have aspirations to move things on to another level im going out there to have fun go fekin fast and put on a show.
so mate i aint nokin ya for what ya doin i applaud you. as for match racing that will be cool as fek....big burnouts and dry hops to the line pure hardcore who needs dial-in times first to the end wins.
just hope ya balls are as big as ya mouth is....lol

I had the same thing. I had people e-mailing me, phoning me, telling me i'm riding the wave of my dad's success in the sport and that I couldn't control a altered and wouldn't have made any of the achievements I have done so far. You just got to ignore them and do what you got to do.

Admittedly I did do a little too much talking before the car went out on the track, but I was able to come through for myself. Not a lot of people can say they have been able to do that, admittedly none of it could have happened if it weren't for my old man and Martyn our crew chief.

I said that? .....

Thats news to me! laugh

And yea, we have something in the pipeline, but what that something is a split between two different ideas.

But time will tell, none of it will be able to be done unless we sell our car though.

Lee and Joe, the only people whose opinions matter are those of the people you either love or otherwise care for, and those who care for you be they family, friends or fans. Everyone else can get stuffed. One of the unfortunate aspects of the internet is that whatever the endeavour it has spawned a generation of keyboard experts who like the look of their own typing too much whether on a forum (even this one) or in an E-Mail or whatever.

All you have to say to these basta..sorry, people is that they are perfectly free to book themselves a driving course with Paul Marston and then we'll see just how cocky they are afterwards. Until you have been strapped into a race car and been through the unique emotions and sensations you experience in a very short space of time then you are singularly unqualified to comment on others' efforts or capabilities. I am sure that Tet and all the other racers on here will know what I am saying and might even have something to add.

topfueldrags i have it on good authority that linsey will be out with a new car at some point.
jon if you need any help (as long as its not financial) give me a shout my email is leecb05@yahoo.co.uk
joe i might have made a mistake and someone else is looking at building a funny car i seem to talk to that many people who are doing one thing or another.
eurodragster.com cheers mate for the kind words much appreciated and you are not wrong about the amount of "experts" out there but i must give a big thank you to Roy Wilding who has become a good friend over the last few months and without his knowledge and contacts i would never have got this far with the new car.

Something to add? Well, mostly I'm bemused that you'd think I might have any idea what I'm talking about :-)

Seriously, though, driving a race car is a fairly unique experience. My crew chief has been around the sport for a while, and has been down the quarter mile in some fairly quick road cars, but it wasn't until he did a full pass in Grumpy's Dodge that he truly understood. The difference between even a high powered road car and a proper race car isn't something that's easy to describe. Like Tog says, if someone hasn't had that experience, then you're probably best off not taking what they say too seriously unless you have some other good reason to (such as if they're friends or family). And to be honest, you can ignore most of what anyone's saying, regardless of whether they have experience. So long as you're taking care to stay safe and are enjoying what you're doing, what else matters? Good luck to you...
