A huge pat on the back goes out to the redvictor drag race team of Andy Frost and his Victor this weekend.
This years hard work finally paid off, with a run of 7.802 secs @ 183.07 mph.
Not bad for a fully street legal motor!!!
Well done mate !
Messrs Sleath, Pateman and Jackson have got their work cut out now....

Seriously impressive engineering to make a roadcar shell run such a huge terminal! Should really question your point of road-legality though, because I couldn't see it running such a time without its (road-illegal) drag radials...

You mean he changed his car from street legal trim just for this run?

These cars have to be MOT'd, taxed and (AFAIK) have to be driven on a route around local roads to prove their roadworthyness as well as performing several "hot"starts under their power. To that end, yes, they are road legal.

thank you everyone....just for the record the "illegal" drag radials will pass not only an MOT test but an SVA test also..... They are the same sort of tread pattern as a Yokohama tyre.....and also Dave 200,bear in mind that i ran 8.2 at 177mph with 1500hp on the old combo on block treaded tyres...huge terminals go with 2000+hp.....

Neighbour still has a 'mint' blue one . . . a farmers boy from 'the lands' has a rusty greenish V. Must be strong stuff.

Respect.

What sort of output does that thing knock out? Incredible to get that much traction from a production car chassis and road legal rubber.

Real Steel Street Eliminator UK racer Andy Frost has had the first dyno session with his new turbo-equipped engine and it sounds as if he almost did the dyno a mischief.

"The 2000 hp dyno at Knight Racing Services could not hold the power enough to get proper HP and torque readings from the engine", says Andy. "This is due to the huge amount of torque present at almost all rpms. We could only get a reading at 6000+ rpm of 1600hp and 1330 ft lbs (You said "only"? - Ed) but it was still failing to hold the full power.

"Fortunately we have mapped the engine sufficiently to be able to run at a fair pace straight away with only a little bit of trimming to do. Thanks again to Steve Szczpanski of MPS Canada, Nigel Colwell of Altiss Engineering, Malcolm and Pete at Knight Racing Services for their sterling efforts for the last five days, Nimbus Motorsports for all their Torco Oils and Heat Management products, and Holset turbos for their incredible Turbo Chargers.

"Now for the real work - getting it all to the track."

I know, I was wondering if he was asserting his insider knowledge not known to us mere mortals or just his lack of knowledge.

As I thought, it seems it was the latter. Good to see the man himself has been along to back it up though.

I can confirm that cars that run in this class do get used on the road. John Sleath came to the Leeds cruise, at least a 60 mile round trip. His car also runs 8`s. They are amazing pieces of kit.

Just think if one of them did Brighton Speed Trials..........

at 20psi of boost it is close if not more than 2000hp.It will go to 28psi....
The chassis is a tubular one.The old car used to bend the floor at 1200hp...
