Camping at the Pod.
Discussion
Hi all, my first meet at Santapod was in 1973 (still have the program somewhere!). In those days as teenagers we used to camp when the campsite was on the pitside near the woods. Not a care in the world in those days about the noise at stuff going on through the night :-)
Now though I am a little older and have decided that one day of pure heaven is not enough so I will be camping Saturday night up there.
My question is how do I get in the 'quieter' field, and also are there water taps around onsite so I don't have to lug that up in the car.Not that I mind noise but for me that comes on the track during the racing......cant flippin wait! Here's praying for fine weather!
Thanks in advance,
Paul.(nitrohead)

Go all the way around to the far end of the strip..
Make sure you tell the folks on the gate that you require family camping.
There are portaloos there and attended twice a day.
Water and showers are, however, at the main block at the top of the paddock.
If it has rained for 48hrs before arriving, look for a friendly 4x4 to tow you ONTO the family camping area !!.
We made the mistake of not buying food and beer a few easters ago and got stuck on site. We ended up spending nearly 600 on site for the 4 days !! ( greedy fat drunken bums !! )
Good luck and have fun

Thankyou for the replies.
I got to the family camping area on Saturday morning to find what can only be described as the Podington wetlands. I managed to find a reasonably dryish bit by the fence on the left although still very soggy, (the wellies were a godsend).
A real shame about the weather on the Saturday, but Sundays racing more than made up for that, absolutely superb. It verified why I think its the number one motorsport on the planet, bar none!
During the racing on Sunday something was bugging me, how the hell was I going to get my car out of that muddy campsite without getting bogged down? Anyway during a bit of downtime I went back, planned a route out, stuck me foot down and "phew" I was out on the small tarmacked bit...result! Parked elsewhere and watched the rest of the racing till the pro-mods finished 8pm? Talk about value for money!
It would be good though if Santa pod put down a bit more tarmac in that campsite, but considering what they have done to the place over the years that is just a very small niggle, maybe they will get round to it sometime.
Cant wait for Dragstalgia now :-)
Cheers, Paul.

Brilliant !!
Glad you had a good time. As you say, it is REALLY good value for money ( don't tell them though or the price will rise ).
Try the trackside of family camping as it is higher land and doesn't bog up as much.
Don't ever worry about getting stuck. If there are no punters to tow you off (or on ), the site tractors are there to do just that.
Let us all know when you are off there again.... May well join you.

When we pulled out at 6:30 on Mon. the mud in the pic. had been covered by straw.
As has been said, there are plenty of 4x4's on site ,so nobody would ever be left stuck and the camaraderie in the camp sites is great as a friend of mine found out when he had a flat battery Fri. morning, before he even had a chance to ask anybody for a jump start some nice person came over to him to offer help, then when he got stuck in the mud on Sunday another nice person came over and offered him some duck boards & a push to free him, a great bunch of people drag racers and fans are
