I would have thought that there isn't really anything that would do the job better right now..

What are you trying to achieve? Electronic injectors are great for fine tuning amounts of fuel going into the combustion chamber under given conditions. That's not really necessary with top fuel, where fuel is being poured into the chamber constantly (not just when the inlet valve is open, although more does go in at that point in the cycle). That's not to say electronic injectors wouldn't work, but IIRC they're still banned by the rules, and the current mechanical injectors and slide valve combination seems to do the job well enough, and perhaps just as importantly, it's reliable.

on another note, how much are TF/AAFC (etc) injectors?

its things like this we never think of, are there 8 or multiples of 8 per engine?

Many multiples of 8. You'll generally have at least 32.

Indeed. And probably a small fraction of a top spec Pro Stock engine.

Indeed, the injectors and spark plugs are cheaper than for a Mondeo...lol (in the nitro cars)

I suppose thats the bonus of avoiding technology to create power

Plugs aren't cheaper when you use 16 every quarter mile....

The person who provides them to Grumpy would disagree... (eh Syd?)

Don't think I'm the only one ... can't get a reading off a plug used twice, and there's b***** all left after Dave's used them

Just to clarify the situation with my plugs they do cost the same as everybody else's smile I just don't have to pay for them
Luckily I have a few good friends Graham/ Syd / andy robinson/B&A and a few others who buy them and once they have been "used" by them and are therefore no longer any use to them (because you can't "read" them twice)
they very kindly pass them on to me. I then clean them check them and re-gap them before using them for the last time, you wouldn't want them after I've finished with them!!!
A lot of work but probably saves me about $4000 a year and I would rather have friends than money anyway.

I wondered.....ref parts, it seems a lot are US sourced (for obvious reasons), it must make running here a pain, I take it theres no Halfords for top fuel (where some 17 year old lad can get the wrong filter in about 30 seconds), do racers here have to buy in bulk? I often read on ED that parts havent arrived form across the pond, must be frustrating
