Best MTB Chain Lube.....?
Discussion
I started using Epic Ride last year and am very happy with it's performance, it does not hold the crud like the wet ride lubes do, it stays on well over a two hour off road ride, not used it in really extreme conditions though.

I like the Finishline green lube, seems to do a decent job.
I use this too and it does the trick, though it does tend to attract/hold cack too (but then it won't wash off in wet and cruddy conditions like some of the "dry" lubes do). What type of riding are you doing? How often do you clean/maintain your bike?
Cheers guys, will take a look at the Purple Extreme and Finishline stuff.
As people have pointed out, I guess its a bit of a toss-up between getting something nice and sticky that wont get washed off by water, but not too sticky that all the crud sticks to it!
Ill hold my hands up and admit that with my old bike it just got a hose off and quick re-lube with whatever was lying around after a ride, but after spunking a load of money on a new one I'll be putting a bit more effort in!
I got some freebie cleaning bits and pieces with my bike (muc - off, chain cleaner etc), so I guess my chain / gear maintainence will involve a degrease / wipe off and then re-lube after each ride, any tips on what I 'should' be doing is greatly appriciated....!

I've been using Rock 'n Roll Extreme for the last three years (of weekend) riding, and I find it very good. Doesn't attract dirt, keeps drivetrain clean, smooth shifts etc.
I've got a new PG990 cassette on the shelf, ready to fit, but the original cassette is really only showing minimal signs of wear.
You probably need a strategy that suits your local riding conditions - is it abrasive, is it muddy etc. But Rock 'n Roll Extreme combined with a somewhat an@l approach to chain cleaning works very well for me, although I don't have anything to compare it to - my commuter slag just gets whatever cheap conventional oil is to hand.
