I thought i would report my findings after starting a previous thread asking about what GPS trackers are out there.
Firstly i checked the weather out last night, to find that it was due to be nice over Wendover Woods all morning today, so i packed my bike into the back of the 944 and set off.
Now I've only got back into riding lately since getting nearer to 30 and getting fat i felt i needed to start doing something that was free and that i enjoy, and i used to love riding so i got a new bike and have started to venture out on it. I had been riding round Aylesbury on between 5-12 mile routes on the roads, and once an 19 mile round trip to Wendover Woods and back( but i was too knackered to venture into the woods themselves), and i must admit riding on roads wasn't too fun for me, bike routes were nice but when mixing with the cars i felt a tad nervous. Anyway I have always wanted to get out in the mud so off to the woods i went.
I was informed of a cracking deal on the Garmin Forerunner 305 on Amazon for £131 with a heart rate monitor, it arrived promptly, and i have been waiting for 2 weeks to get out and use it. I switched it on as i was about to set off, the heart rate monitor connected straight away and the satellites were found within 30 seconds.
I had forgotten how nice it is to ride in woods, i had also forgotten how slippy it can be and at points my rear tyre was squirming about, giving me a bit of a 5p 50p moment, i spent far too much time riding the brakes but after i get some gloves and gain some more confidence i hope to pick up some speed.
It made me realise how hard riding in these conditions are i was only out and about for an hour and i was knackered, but to any of you that have been there there is a killer hill, which really took it out of me.
After getting home i plugged the 305 in to see what Garmin training center said i had done. It showed the route i had taken, i found out that i had only gone 4 miles in forty minutes and that i had stopped for 15 minutes at various points. The heart rate information was shown against time on a graph proving how unfit i am. All in all I'm really pleased with the Garmin, my first venture into the woods, and that my bike has lost its mud cherry! I just look forward to getting back out there.

You're not kiddin! the other evening i spent more time on the floor than on my bike! (i blame the steep head angle/narrow bars of my summer setup bike and the need to keep all my weight on the front to get into the corners........ or possibly it's my complete lack of talent??? ;-)
