... a cheapo Aluminium MTB frame - going to build a commuter hack - recycling most of the parts from my current ageing steel steed and sticking suitable road rubber on it. Anybody point me in the right direction, or of have something collecting cobwebs in the shed?

Ebay has been fruitless - mental money.

I'm 5'8" so I reckon a 16/17" frame is about right - condition unimportant - looking forward to doing it up etc.

Any PH pedallers help? - I'm in the West Mds.

Been trawling ebay lately to find my mate a cheap DH bike and it's all ether complete crap or millions.

Have you tried your local cashconverter (or the like) they've usually got a rack of cheap MTB's the local junkies/robbing scum have exchanged for drug money.

Mate picked up a old, but very good nick cannondale HT with a headshock front for £40, rode it about for 6 months and sold it for £250 on eBay.

Brank x stuff is pretty good - I have one of their alloy-crabon road bike frames.

Kinesis would be my choice for an MTB.
