Warranty Replaced Frame, warranty remaining?

As I'm sure some of you are aware, my Hustler was replaced recently under manufacturers warranty, When I collected the bike I requested a receipt as I was informed the new frame should come with the 2 year warranty, the guy in the shop seeemed to Agree but couldn't do a receipt as a sale had not gone through on the system so directed me elsewhere.
I spoke to the customer services this week and they informed me that the warranty will only be the outstanding balance of the original frame.
I have also spoken to another Cove dealer who thought the warranty should start fresh with the new frame.
What is the answer?

Had the same issue with lupine lights. I demanded my money back or a new set of lights with a new warranty. I got the warranty and lights - (should have taken the money and got something reliable....

Good question, I would have thought it starts all over again as it's on the frame, not the purchase (if you know what I mean) but I think most companies are tightening up on them.
Mate recently had a Nomad replaced on warranty with a cracked front triangle, had to fight and fight to avoid paying for a new rear triangle as his (12 month old) model wasn't compatible with the new front!
And Specialized. Long being famous for having lifetime warranties on their frames changed that to 'front triangle only' on FS bikes (2 years on the rear) a few years ago and this year have changed it to 5 years only on everything. Even if you bought a bike 5 years ago based on the strength of the lifetime warranty it's now void.
Bloke in the LBS told me that most are now much stricter on ‘manufacturing faults’ as being the only basis of a warranty claim an not ‘any failure in normal use’ as it used to be.
What warranty does Cove offer? My Shocker is now 2.5 years old (but I've been injured for the last 14 months and it hasn't turned a wheel) I'm sure the dealer told me "it's ether 5 years or lifetime mate" which considering he left the LBS under a cloud could mean anything.

I didn't think warranty replacements extended your warranty, just continued to be covered under the original agreement
Certainly it's the same with car warranties, if a part fails during the warranty period it won't be covered for an additional 3 years, just until the original warranty expires.
Not sure if it is legal to change the terms mid-period though? (Specialized)

hmmm, but with most garages the repair is guarenteed for x period of time...Certainly it's the same with car warranties, if a part fails during the warranty period it won't be covered for an additional 3 years, just until the original warranty expires.
