Recommend me a cheap starter bike

As of the end of september I shall be embarking on a 15 mile daily commute with a friend at uni. At the moment I'm rolling around on a crappy 15 year old mountain bike which is going to be no match for his road racing bike.

Just looking for something secondhand around £100 that can get me started and see how into it I get then.

Anyone got any recommendations or currently selling anything?
