Trek 1.5 Triple 2010 or Fuji Roubaix 2.0 - Cheapest place.

I'm going to collect one of these bikes today.

Question is I'm getting it from Evans so can anyone find them cheaper elsewhere on the net so I can price match.

The Trek is £800. The Fuji £700. Their price matching includes delivery, so I've seen loads for £775 but delivery is £25...

Is the trek worth the extra £100. I already have a Trek MTB that has been going for 4 years wit zero maintenance so I'm fairly sure of their quality. Never heard of Fuji...

Fuji are a well established Japanese brand though have not been widely distributed widely in the UK.

I doubt you will find either advertised cheaper, but if you waqnt some discount I'm sure you could find a Raleigh Airlite 400 (which I like) advertised for around £800 which I think Evans also stock.

My Trek has been great and their current hydroformed roadframes look excellent to me.

Specs are very similar, obviously the Fuji has a compact chainset and the Trek a triple chainset though. Do you live in a really hilly area?

The Fuji seems to be the better deal but it has classic geometry so a more racy riding style that you may not find comfortable on long rides. The Trek is more relaxed in that respect.

Best bet is to test ride both bikes and see which you prefer.

With an £800 budget at Evans also look at this Raleigh with 105 components, assuming they have it in your size

I live in the South East so nothing to taxing hill wise. However that said I'd want to take it around the UK and Abroad so maybe best to shell the extra £100 on the Trek, saying that I'll take at look at the Raleigh, whilst I'm there, seems a good deal.

I was looking at the Bianch Via Nirone Xenon, but I really can't see myself being comfortable with that colour scheme.

I'm probably going to be in the market for something similar pretty soon, so would love to hear any more info. I keep seeing the Fuji and wondering about it, and maybe also a Boardman in that price range?

I've got the 2010 Trek 1.5 Double and been pretty happy with it but have a few complaints with it...

• The brakes are complete and utter garbage. I'd strongly reccommend budgeting for at the very least some upgraded pads if you buy it, and possibly some upgraded calipers too!

• Despite keeping it in a shed, keeping it clean, and rarely ever riding it in the rain (twice, if that!) a number of components on it have started to show signs of rust - bits of the brakes and the front deraillieur. It's only about 10 months old as well!

• Standard tyres are not only very hard, but also very prone to punctures. Again, would strongly suggest upgrading them before putting any real miles on them.

Otherwise it's a nice ride - very well balanced & comfortable

Unless you're doing proper alpine riding I don;t think you can realy justify the triple, I'd go for the Fuji which seems to offer better value all round.

I bought the Trek.

The riding position for me felt a lot better and it felt somewhat lighter than the Fuji.

The brakes are rubbish compared to the Fuji I'll accept that.

If the power of the brakes feels sub par I'd firt suggest tyring a change of pads to some performance ones liek SwissTop before buying new brakes.
