How far from the kerb do you cycle?

B/C roads - I'd normally stick to the outside double yellow line (as a guide) but yesterday, fed up with potholes, kept about 3ft from the kerb and people definitely gave a bigger distance when overtaking

Only concern was I'd be holding people up unnecessarily (I'm not the quickest at the moment) leading to a higher chance of dangerous overtake / road rage.. on the other hand I have a lot more escape room and probably signalling is clearer for those behind

I do the same - normally 2-3 ft from the kerb. All about being defensive, I find I have picked it up from riding motorbikes.

Always 2 / 3 ft from the kerb - avoid potholes, and make people drive around you, rather than trying to find space that isn't there if you're further in...

I read something in the Sunday Times (I think) about there being a higher proportion fatalities amongst female cyclists. The article put it down to women in general adopting a less dominant road position.
Anyway, I tend to go for about 2-3 foot.

The closer you are to the kerb, the more people push past where there simply isn't room to.

Should be an essential read for ALL cyclists who use the road. In fact, a lot of motorists would benefit from it too...
