I need a new BB. Got that lovely grinding noise from the original supplied on my Stumpy. I'm about to buy this Hope one, unless anyone can advise on a better alternative. I rather buy good once, than second rate twice. I've not done much bike servicing before, but I assume this is quite a DIY job. Any advice welcome. Thanks.

I used one of them on my DH bike for a season and it is still fine. As long as you have the correct tool for the job it is easy. Just remember that the drive side cup has a reverse thread (BB threads are the opposite way round from the pedals)

I assume grease is a good thing to add once the old one is out and the BB cleaned out. Is any particular grease recommend?

Yup, a bit of grease on the threads would be advisable, just the sort of grease you would use anywhere else really.
