Hayes MX4 Adjustment

After saving 1/4 hour by putting the bike in the back of the car with the front wheel off, rather than on the bike rack, it's taken me in excess of an hour of fiddling to attempt to line the front disc brakes up so they don't rub - and it's still doing it.
There's an allen key thingy on the opposite side of the pic below that you get to through the spokes but that doesn't seem to do the job. Any hints before I undo something I shouldn't and it falls to bits?

On the Hayes web site they have some PDF work sheets you can down load.
I made an arse of doing mine yesterday, so it's now in the bike shop been fixed.

Hi Si thanks. I have looked on there. Alas i can find no diagrams to state what bits are which, so sentances like

Spin the wheel. Check that it spins freely and that the gaps, between the pad and the disc, are equal. If the gaps are unequal, or if there is drag, readjust the caliper position by loosening the mounting bolts and adjusting the caliper as needed.

Make little sense unless I'm going to just unscrew everything on the disc in some kind of "disc brake roulette".

Don't do that at some point the brake fluid runs out I know this from yesterdays experience.
