Hi All,
Bought a set of Shimano ultegra calipers for my bike. The problem is the existing cables dont fit into the new brakes as inside the brake where the cable should fit in there appears to be a small collar that makes the hole too small for the cable. Are there different size cables? My bike is a 2007 Specialized. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

The cable, or the outer sleeve?

The outer sleeve - it has a brass collar on the end of the cable that wont fit into the brake caliper because of the 'collar' inside the caliper.

Pull the collar off then (the outer).

It does. Grab it with some pliers.

Some brake calipers need you to use a cable end cap, some dont.

You've just changed from one that does, to one that doesnt.

To be fair - if you've got the the point of changing calipers - Put new cables in, inner and outer, its only cheap and it does make a difference.

Changing the inners only is a waste of time.
