About 10 years ago I was given an old BMX by a friend of my dads. He used to be really into riding an was aparently semi-pro at one point.

The bike has just sat in the garage and has only been ridden once or twice, it's almost totally original. the tyres still have the little sticky out bits from the moulding process (anyone know what they're called???).

The only things which have been changed are inner tubes and brake cable inners and there is a scratch in the paint on the frame. The chrome is also rusting in areas.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what it may be worth. I'm going to sell as i'd love to see it restored totally and for it to be ridden once again.

The bike is as follows:

Redline RL-20II Pro-Styler frame
Redline forks
Redline Flight three piece cranks
MKS Grafight-x pedals
Araya rims on sealed hubs
Dia-Compe MX brakes
Pro-Neck stem

Pictures are below:

Anyone have anu ideas?

Check out ebay, but I'd guess a fair amount. I've seen a few raleigh burners going for over £400 in mint condition

I've had a quick look on there, there was a frame and forks which went in America for $500 but nothing else.

There's loads of people on retro bike forums wanting one though. Mainly in America.

I'm going to ebay it but, as I can't see the market being that big i've got to set a reserve I imagine, I don't know what to set the reserve at though.

Well it seems to be worth more than i would have imagined...

Someone on the radbmx forums has put it at 500-700 and i've already had three offers there, one for 400 one for 450 and another for 500.

I'd love for it to go to someone who'd keep it together and do it up rather than split it for parts.

It would seem to be rather rare.

Set the reserve at the minimum price you'd like to get for it.

Sorry, not meaning to sound patronising, but the reserve value of an item should be more about what it is worth TO YOU as opposed to the market value (if there is such a thing), or what it MIGHT be worth to someone else.

Clean it up, write a good ad, and I can't see it going for less than £250-£300 IMO

It's ok. I wrote that post from my mobile in the middle of a night shift... It probably sounded a bit thick!

I used to have a pristine USA Raleight Rampart with top spec, Red frame with blue bits. Took it to Uni with me, and the day before i planned to go home for good, i lent it to a mate who got intoxicated in one way or another and ended up leaving it at a house. The probelm was, he could not remember what house he actually went to, who's it was are indeed whereabouts in North London it was. I have never seen it since.

How i miss that bike frown

Can't really add much to the value of the complete bike but I sold a pair of those crank arms, just the arms, no spindle, nothing else just the arms for just over £100 on ebay a few years ago. wink

Talking of Old Skook BMX, just purchased myself one of these smile - didn't realise there was a limited run produced last year to mark the 25th Anniversary.

2 Hundred and fifty UK pounds... eek

They were rubbish when they were new in the 80's. rotate

What were quite good in a Retro way were the Haro Master re-editions based on the Haro Mirra angles and parts, updated angles and parts but from a distance looked 'old skool'. smile

I hear what you are saying - Burners were never my cup of tea either, but just fancied a piece of UK BMX history.
