I guessing, you know, just for sts and giggles like, that the whole point of a kit being team issue only, is that it is team issue only.

I'd be pretty pissed off if I'd worked my arse off to represent my country in a sport if some oik who'd never even seen competition decided he'd wear the kit.

I know footy and rugger kit is different as a result of marketing and profit, however I completely understand why the sport governing bodies restrict national team issue kit to those who deserve it.

As a result, thats why you can't buy it.

You have, in the past, for example, been able to buy kits celebrating a commercially sponsored team riders World Championship win - GT did this with several jerseys.

Hope that helps.

ETA: I suspect that the link provided is an unauthorised release - giving the reason it's on a German site selling a GBR team jersey!!!

I'd have to agree with you there about the ethics of it.In NZ where i'm currently based there is a huge amount of replica nz national kit and some pomme customer wants to race in British colours.I said i'd try get one in for him smile Thanks for the link, will explore the options.

Agree with your comments Neil, but I would also extend that to include World Championship, Yellow, Green, Polka Dot jerseys etc but as usual the sponsors and clothing manufacturers cash in.

Looking at the link I posted it does not look like the original team wear which has white adidas stripes not black.

Team clothing has never appealed to me and I always ride in plain cycle gear. Plowman Craven outfit anyone? hurl Just imagine signing up for your first professional contract and then being given that team kit!

Team issue kit is really just clothing, theres so many kits available, but wearing rainbow hoops is quite simply wrong unless you earned them.

You could say the same thing about a national team kit too...

However, commercial team kit is fair game.

I'm a plain kit man myself though...

In NZ the best selling cycle shirt is the all black top with a silver fern saying new zealand on it.That happens to be the national cycling kit.Its no big deal.
I'm the same and would wear plain kit, though i try wear my sponsers kit most of the time, however, single speeding in the countryside one looks a complete dick in team kit of any type smile imo
