Hi All,

I want to get into mountain biking to get fit and lose some weight. I have a max budget of £250 but havent a clue what to buy. I want a hardtail with front suspension. I was thinking of this :

my friend has the bike you suggested yourself and it has worked fine and been pretty reliable.
the only thing he has trouble with is the brakes which realy have no power at all,

for your budget i would recommend a bike with v-brakes as although cable discs have progressed massively the simplicity and reliability of v-brakes cannot be beaten for that money imo.

hope this helps

I have to agree, for this budget i would definately go with v-brakes as they will be much better quality than the disks and will actually stop you, if your looking for good disks i think you may have to up your budget, heres a few i would recomment from chainreaction who i must say have an amazing delivery service and its free.

These are all decent bikes with the first link having the best set of forks.

Good luck with finding a bike

Thanks for the advice guys. I looked into the brake situation and upped my budget slightly and ordered this:
